This bill amends the continuing education requirements for baccalaureate, master, and specialist clinical social workers. Approximately six years ago, a local clinical worker was killed in Johnson County while working with a student. This requirement will hopefully put more tools in the social worker’s tool bag.
On and after January 1, 2011, applicants for the first-time licensure renewal are required to have completed, as part of their continuing education requirements, not less that six hours of social worker safety awareness training. If the applicant has taken the training as part of a previous level of social worker licensure renewal, the applicant is not required to complete an additional six hours of social worker safety awareness training.
